FAQS

Have questions about what it’s like to work together? Check out these frequently asked questions.

  • I offer both in-person and virtual therapy for clients located in Virginia. My office is based in Northern Virginia, providing a calm, private space for in-person sessions. If you're interested in meeting virtually, I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant online therapy for clients throughout Virginia, West Virginia, & Washington D.C.

  • Online therapy allows us to meet from the comfort of your home, office, or any private space that works for you. Sessions are held via SimplePractice, and the process is very similar to in-person sessions. Many clients find that online therapy offers additional flexibility and convenience, while still allowing us to build a strong therapeutic connection.

    • Initial Consultation (15 minutes): Free

    • Standard Individual Therapy (50 minutes): $175 per session

    • Extended EMDR Sessions: Sometimes longer sessions are recommended for EMDR work. These are billed based on a prorated rate from the standard session fee, and we’ll discuss this in advance if extended sessions may be helpful for your treatment.

I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide superbills for clients wishing to use out-of-network benefits.

  • A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company may need if you plan to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. It includes items like diagnosis codes, session dates, and fees paid. I can provide superbills upon request, so you can submit them directly to your insurance company if your plan offers out-of-network benefits.

  • While I provide a detailed billing agreement outlining my fees prior to starting services, clients may request a formal Good Faith Estimate at any time. This document provides an estimate of the expected cost of services, as required by the No Surprises Act. If you’d like a Good Faith Estimate in addition to your billing agreement, I’m happy to provide one upon request.

  • The first session is really about getting to know each other and creating a foundation for our work together. I’ll ask questions about what’s bringing you to therapy, some of your history, and what you’re hoping to get out of our time together. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable — there’s no pressure to go into anything you’re not ready for.

We’ll also talk through any questions you have about the therapy process, discuss next steps, and begin identifying some initial goals. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a sense of what working together will look like.

  • The length of therapy looks a little different for everyone, depending on your goals, what you're working through, and what feels most helpful for you. Some clients find relief after a short period of focused work, while others benefit from longer-term support to explore deeper patterns, process trauma, or navigate ongoing life changes.

We’ll regularly check in on your goals and progress together to make sure therapy continues to feel supportive and aligned with your needs. You’re always in control of the pace and direction of our work.
